About Me
Two continents, one language
Teaching Spanish is much more than teaching a language
Hi! I’m Leonor, although my students know me as Leo. I’m Venezuelan, a qualified lawyer by training, and I have extensive professional experience in the university sector in my home country.
I have been living in Spain for five years and, for the past four, I have been teaching Spanish as a foreign language, both in person and online. I also hold a Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, which has allowed me to consolidate my teaching experience and develop a clear, practical and personalised approach to learning.
Teaching Spanish has been a wonderful experience. Every lesson is an enriching exchange between student and teacher: I accompany my students as they discover the language, while their stories, cultures and ways of seeing the world enrich my own experience at the same time.
My goal is for you to learn how to communicate confidently in Spanish in real-life situations while still understanding the grammar behind the language. That’s why my lessons are not based on mechanical repetition or boring exercises. Instead, we work with examples, conversations and activities related to your experiences, interests and everyday needs. This allows you to understand the language, internalise it and use it with greater confidence and naturalness.
Learning Spanish should prepare you for life: for a job interview, taking part in a conference, giving a talk or making a presentation; but also for meeting people, making new friends, travelling, using public transport, going shopping or discovering new horizons. Learning a language also means discovering its food, literature, art and the cultures of the people who speak it.
I believe that the success of my lessons is closely connected to empathy and to my ability to adapt each learning experience to the person in front of me. Before we begin, we’ll assess your level and talk about your goals, interests and needs. From there, I’ll design a truly personalised learning plan.
A multicultural perspective on Spanish
Being Latin American and Caribbean, living in Spain and building a multicultural home here has allowed me to connect two worlds that share the same language, but also have their own expressions, nuances and cultural perspectives.
Living alongside people from different nationalities has broadened my understanding of Spanish and its many varieties. That’s why in my lessons you won’t just learn grammar structures and vocabulary: you’ll also discover the different meanings, expressions and nuances that a word can have in Spain and across different Latin American countries.
This perspective makes my approach to teaching more authentic, human and engaging. I want to help you understand Spanish as a living, diverse and extraordinarily rich language — a language that will allow you to communicate, grow and connect with people and cultures from all over the world.
Because learning Spanish isn’t simply about studying a language: it’s about living an experience that can open the door to a new life.
